My First Medium Publication
Today I finally did it. I’ve been meaning to start a Medium publication for a long time, but I wasn’t sure what it should focus on. I wanted to be able to write my heart out and not worry about formatting to suit some other publication’s style. I didn’t want to limit my publishing to what other publications were looking for. When my themes don’t fit in other publications I write for, the only option is to be approved as a writer for one that my post might fit or to self-publish. All that takes time. It’s hard predict when a post may appear.
Today it all came together in my mind. And A Pilgrim Life was born. It brings together the important parts of my life. I can use as many photos as I chose in my posts. The subjects range from inspirational essays to opinions on anything I’ve been pondering. Although I see everything through my Christian world view, the articles also address nature, gardening, and opinions on what I read.
Why Name it A Pilgrim Life?
I don’t feel at home in this world. I’m longing to get to the next one. Like John Bunyan’s Pilgrim, I’ve made many wrong turns on my journey and faced many obstacles that pulled me off my path or delayed me. Some lessons I’ve learned from these detours have been harder than others, but by God’s grace, I’ve always gotten back to the right path. I’m on my way to meet Jesus face to face in the not so distant future. Only He knows when. Before I reach my final home, I hope I’ll be able to pass on some of what I’ve learned on this journey with the hope it may encourage someone else walking this path.
Will You Join Me?
You can become a Medium member for free. That enables you to read anything that’s not behind the paywall for free. You can also read three starred stories from behind the paywall for free each month. You can subscribe to the Medium Partner Program for $5.00 a month or $50 a year.* I use the annual plan. I read very few blog posts these days that aren’t on Medium. I hate ads popping up on my screen and self-playing videos. Medium is free of those because they get the money to pay writers from the subscription fees.
When I’m not reading books, I’m reading Medium. From writing tips, photo essays, health, and finance information to poetry and short stories, you are sure to find a lot to interest you. I read book reviews, inspirational posts, political editorials, travel articles, and posts on food and cooking. If there’s a subject you’re interested in, Medium is sure to have one or more publications focused on it.
You can also earn money from writing on Medium. I earn enough to pay for my subscription and then some, especially since I started writing almost every day. If you like to write on almost any subject, there’s a place for you at Medium. You don’t have to be a paying member to earn money, but it’s a lot easier if you are. Many Medium publications only accept articles from the paying Medium Partner Program members. It’s easier to find readers if your posts are published by one of Medium’s many publications. You can even start your own. And I finally did it today.
